Dacron Cage: To reduce the weight of the kite and therefore to improve the kite’s performance, the Dacron Cage has been modified. The Dacron reinforcement strips run from wingtip-to-wingtip along the leading edge and down each side of the individual struts. These reinforcements have been slimmed down, so the strength is only at the high stress and wearable areas of the kite. |

Wingtip Construction: Flexifoil have increased the diameter of the leading edge tube at the kite wingtip. The larger diameter wingtip tube offers a more rigid structure and is therefore less likely to deform whilst turning. We have also fitted the wingtip with a small webbing strap that prevents the flying lines from getting caught around it. |

Dump Valve: We were the first company to introduce this feature which makes it quick to deflate and roll up the kite after a session. The
new Flexifoil Atom08 has been designed to be comfortable and
fun to ride - whatever the weather conditions.
The Flexifoil Atom 08 design and hybrid shape delivers rock-solid
stability, huge depower and predictable, responsive handling.
Flexifoil asked their customers what they wanted from a kite
that would satisfy first-time kitesurfers and would also suit
riders making the transition from “C” shaped kites
to the bow style kites.
The end result is that the overall stability and useable wind range has been improved through detailed refinement of the aerodynamic elements of each size of the Atom 08.
Performance Characteristics:
Simplicity of setup
The Flexifoil Atom08 is an excellent all-rounder straight
‘out of the bag’, with no tuning required. Colour-coded
lines and attachment points make the process of attaching
your kite to the control bar very straight forward. The
‘Single-Point Inflation System’ provides
you with a quick and hassle free inflation of your kite even
on the most windswept beaches.
Ease of use
The Atom08 has excellent stability, is well behaved and very
predictable. It will never drop out of the sky unexpectedly
and is intuitive to fly under control throughout its wind
range.
Jumping
If you like going big then the control offered with the Atom08
lets you go HUGE. Within its normal wind range, sending the
kite results in big jumps with great float.
Turning style (Tunable)
The Atom08 hybrid design provides the rider
with a progressive, predictable feel throughout the whole
turn. The feedback you feel through the bar means that you
know exactly where the kite is at any time. You can sense
what the kite is doing and therefore concentrate on your riding
and not the kite.
Turning speed (Tunable)
The Atom08’s turning speed has been improved upon from
the original Atom(07). By moving the attachment point towards
the wingtip of the kite, the turn speed has been increased,
providing more reactive control.
Safety system
The ‘All-in-One Bar’ safety system kills 90% of
the power of the kite in one fast dependable action. This
results in the kite coming down at the edge of the window
ready for easy relaunch. This proven safety system is the
best on the market for reliability, release force and ease
of re-assembly - even when it’s under the water.
Relaunch
There are two possible relaunching scenarios on the Atom08,
and in both cases it’s very simple and easy to get going
again ...
1) The kite has landed at the edge of the window as a result
of using the safety system or letting go of the bar. In this
case, steer the kite off the water.
2) The kite has landed in the centre of the window (on its
front) as a result of steering the kite in to the water. To
relaunch simply swim towards the kite to roll it on its back,
steer to the edge of the window and then steer off the water.
This relaunch technique is the same as a conventional ‘C’
shape kite.
Wave riding (Tunable)
The Atom08 won’t pull you off the wave and the improved
profile makes it very difficult to stall. It drives through
the turn keeping you powered and ahead of the whitewater.
Bar pressure (Tunable)
The bar pressure is nicely balanced to give good feedback
without being too heavy on the arms.
Bar system (Tunable)
Simple, effective and comfortable. The control bar and depower
system will allow you to trim the kite easily whilst riding
- allowing you to concentrate on your kiting without any distractions.
Tuning your kite (Intermediate/advanced
riders)
You can change the performance
of the Atom08 to suit your riding style and ability.
Bar pressure
Changing the rear-line tow points alters the speed the kite
turns. Changing the setting on the front tow points effects
the bar pressure. This means that you can change the feel
and performance of the kite to suit your personal requirements.
Wave riding
When riding unhooked with the frontlines set on the forward
most front tow points the Atom08 won’t want to pull
you off the wave and is difficult to stall. Hooked in and
set on the rear most front towpoints the Atom08 drives through
the turn keeping you powered and ahead of the whitewater.
Bar system
You can adjust the length of the centre line and your leader
lines to suit your size. Any rider, no matter what their size
can feel comfortable when riding. Several parts of the system
are also customisable to adapt to your riding style.
Unhooked riding
You can tune the Atom08 with the two front tow point options.
To provide plenty of grunt for wake style unhooked moves use
the rear most front tow points, or use the forward most front
tow points to keep the kite feeling light which helps for
unhooking when wave riding.
Jumping
You can turn the speed at which you like to send the kite
by using the different rear-line tow points.
Turning speed
This can be tuned using the different rear-line tow points.
The kite comes set up on the faster turn setting out of the
bag, making looping the kite in the window easy. For a more
controlled setting, the turn rate can be slowed down for a
more forgiving ride in higher winds.
Optional 5th Line
Attachment
For riders who prefer to ride using a 5th line system for
added safety and self-landing, there is an optional 5th line
available on the Atom08. This item can be ordered separately.
The 5th line is to be used in conjunction with the bridle,
not separately.
This is NOT a next generation Ion - it’s a sister kite that will sit at the intermediate part of our range making our sport easier and more satisfying.

Bar:
The Flexifoil Atom 08 is available with the new ‘All
in One’ bar. It’s been designed to be easy to
use for any level of rider, to have great durability and full
adjustability meaning that as your riding style progresses
you can adapt the setup on the bar. The bar is available with
a full range of accessories so that you can customize the
bar to suit your riding style as your kitesurfing skills progress.
Design
process
Flexifoil use an integrated approach to the design of the
kite and bar and strive to keep the number of moving parts
to a minimum whilst still retaining complete functionality.
To reduce the possibility of any form of tangle, we have removed
the landing handle from the Flexifoil Atom (07) bar.
Retro-fittable
As well as working with the Atom08, the ‘All in One’
bar is compatible with all our legacy hybrid-style water kites
as well as future 2008 hybrid kites. You can have peace of
mind
knowing that your bar will work with past, present and future
hybrid Flexifoil kites.
Proven single release
system
The simplest yet most effective safety release system on the
market. The primary release cover is always where you would
expect to find it – just above your chicken loop. This
means that it is quick and easy to find and activate. The
simple reconnection process is intuitive, possible to do under
the water and - with experience - with only one hand!
Keeping the bar simple
and lines tangle free
A custom, stainless steel ball bearing swivel is fitted to
the top of the depower strap. This helps the front lines un-spin
after rotations, keeps the bar looking clean and helps reduce
the wear on the front lines. We have also added an elastic
section to the top of the rope safety line – so when
riding fully depowered the line reduces in size, and does
not get in the way.
Centre Line Wear Indicator
The centre line has a red-coloured secondary internal line
which indicates the amount of wear. When the outer Dyneema®
line fails due to wear the inner red line becomes visible.
This internal line has enough strength to enable you to comfortably
make it back to the beach even if you are a long way out.
Centre line durability
Through prolonged use, all centre lines wear. We have worked
hard to make sure that our centerline is one of the best available
on the market. We use heavy-duty 5.6mm, 12 strand, Dyneema®
line which is wax coated to improve durability and resilience.
Easy adjustability
of centre line length
People of all shapes and sizes fly Flexifoil kites. The bar
is fitted with a simple system enabling you to adjust the
length of your centre line. We have clearly labeled the centre
line and on the leader lines, enabling you to know exactly
where you need to attach your lines when altering the centre
line length.
Bar ergonomics
The grip on the new bar has been made much softer and easier
on the hands, meaning that even in cold weather your bar is
far more comfortable and will not make your hands sore - even
after prolonged use.
Ergonomic bar ends provide a solid connection point at the
end of the bar to improve the overall feedback from the kite
whilst turning. The soft over-moulding protects your hands
when kite looping and enables easy line storage on the bar.
V-Core
The ‘All in One’ bar is fitted with the Flexifoil
V-Core - the angled hole in the bar through which the centre
line runs. This vastly reduces centre line wear and helps
to lighten the turn. The V-Core also allows you to turn and
sheet-in at the same time.
Ultimate Freeride - James Watson
I have always wanted a good quality freeride kite but have
been unable to find one until now!
This kite is so stable and yet has the qualities of a performance
kite if you want it. It is so user friendly with no hidden
surprises.
Quality is a typical Flexifoil product - made to the highest
specification with the back-up I need from a UK manufacturer.
I am not great in the waves but I can say
that this kite has given me the confidence I need to get out
into the bigger swells.
