Airush are proud to introduce the Airush Vapor 3 (III), long awaited by many the Airush Vapor I and II set the benchmark in precision handling, with an easy to fly kite that offered massive stability and personal tune ability (bar pressure and window position). The Airush Vapor III carries this ethos further, and is most definately the most focused of the series so far.

 

Inspired by ambition, innovation, and passion, the Airush Vapor 3 (III) design team set out to create the most refined performance freeride and freestyle machine. With a blend of precision steering, high depower, and increased stability, the Airush Vapor III is a versatile performer that merges improved unhooked performance and heightened boosting characteristics making it perfect for aggressive freeride and freestyle riding.

 

The most positive steering characteristics Airush have ever engineered into a high de-power kite. Combining roll over re-launch, high de-power and increased stability. Excellent for all level of riding from dedicated wave riding to dedicated freestyle, with improved un-hooked performance and reduced back stall.

The Airush Vapor 3 (III) focuses on maintaining the steering characteristics of a high performance C-Kite with a new level of extended wind range and depower traditionally only found in bridled kites.

 

The key to this is the flat 5 configuration featuring an advanced 5th line system that supports the leading edge of the kite. This enables enhanced safety, depower and overall performance.

 

Reliable performance is one of the key design focuses. This is achieved in the canopy construction where a frame concept is used on all main panels. This distributes load off all stitch lines in the center canopy area in the event of impact, while the outer frame features a two ply canopy with heavier weight cloth in the wingtip areas.

 

Safety features are also high on the agenda when developing the Airush Vapor 3 (III). The ultra reliable trigger release serves as a critical release safety, with the primary safety being an extended “depower safety”. This enables the kite to be sheeted beyond the standard trim to reduce load in the canopy in an emergency or overpowered situation. In keeping with the versatile performance the stopper ball can be used in a partial lock or full lock mode.

 

5th line and flying line setup can be adjusted from a fluid, fast, forward steering kite, to a much more stable, pivotal steering configuration. This is especially useful in very gusty conditions and for less confident riders.

The Airush Vapor 3 (III) is excellent for all levels of riding from dedicated wave riding to dedicated freestyle and is perfect for hooked in or unhooked riding.

 

Unlike traditional 5th line kites, the Airush Vapor 3 (III) has a 5th line fixed stopper which keeps the 5th line exactly the same length as your front lines.

This enables you to adjust your depower and 5th line length in one go without having to adjust and re-cleat your 5th line every time the wind changes.

It also prevents “bowed out” slack section in the fifth line and maintains the correct amount of tension on the leading edge.

Therefore stabilizing the leading edge curve, eliminating the steering lag or tangles which are caused by bridles.

Specs

Airush Vapor 3 (III) Kite Technology:
There are a few design processes that Airush feel have made a significant impact on the kite performance and give Airush that extra edge over their competitors.

 

These points are the result of hundreds of prototypes and years of development. Areas like skin tension, conic shaping and luff curve form part of our secret recipe.

Construction:
For best performance - kites need to remain as light as possible, while still dealing with the abuse of everyday use.

 

For 09 Airush have focused on increased durability through improved load transfer from the wingtips, additional seam reinforcing in all high load canopy areas, as well as new constructions in strut connections to the canopy and LE. All these major improvements are combined with attention to the smallest details passed on to Airush through their extensive school and test program.

 

Airush Canopy Support:

One of the keys to the Airush Vapor's high performance in a wide wind range is the constant canopy support (CCS). With traditional 5th line systems changes in depower and trim cause the canopy to have reduced support in the center area. This causes elongation of the center of the canopy which reduces the kites performance, depower and stability.

With constant canopy support the unique swivel design ensures the load on the center lines and front flying lines is unchanged when trim is adjusted. The CCS can be bypassed by releasing a simple thumbscrew mechanism on the swivel.

Key notes on Turning graph:
By varying components such as foil shapes, planform and kite geometry Airush have focused on define clear performance characteristic on each kite. These are defined numerically in all sales material and should be clearly understood.

Forward Speed:
This can be defined as the speed with which the kite travels. Kites with a higher forward speed will travel quickly through the air and to the edge of the power window in the shortest period. Kites with a higher forward speed will generate a more immediate pull or “drive”

Turning Speed:
Turning speed defines the rate of change of direction for the kite once it has been steered by the rider. It is important to understand that kites can have a high turning speed without having a high forward speed. This should be noted in the differentiation between Pivotal and power turning on each kite.

 

Adjustable Turning Speed:
To appeal to all rider preferences the Airush Vapor 3 (III) features adjustable steering speed. Moving the connection points towards the tips maximizes the steering speed, while moving the connections points forwards reduces the steering speed.

 

Adjustable Bar Pressure:

By moving the front attachment points on the Airush Vapor 3 (III) the rider can adjust the amount of bar pressure and bar feedback. Typically Freestyle riders would prefer a higher level of bar pressure and feedback while for Freeride the standard setting is ideal.

 

Faster Bladder Inflation:

To optimize the reliable single pump system Airush have developed Fast Bladder Inflation (FBI). All areas of the system have been configured to allow for air to travel easily into all bladders with minimal resistance.

 

Increased diameter tubing and inlet points are used in conjunction with refined alignment of all components. This gets you on the water as quickly as possible.

Low Wind Stability Configuration:

Please note the optional low wind stability configuration for the Airush Vapor III. This is ideal for riders looking for a more pivotal flying characteristic and increased stability with reduced chance of back stalling in low winds.

Jumping:
The kites ability to provide a high lift component resulting in high
altitude. Also referred to as boost. A kites ability to have a high boost, does not always interpret into longer hang time.

Hangtime:
This refers to the kites “glide rate” and the kites ability to keep the rider in the air for as long as possible.

Stability:
This refers to the kites ability to maintain an normal flying position even if subjected to poor rider input, mistakes and gusty wind conditions.

Relaunching:
The kites ability to roll over and be re launched once crashed leading edge down or sideways in the water.

Depower Control Bar

 

Airush Vapor 3 (III) Control Bar and Lines:

Functional pulley free control bar, using multiple safety attachments, on the fly stopper ball, for easy bar adjustments and safe “push away” depower.

The 5th line has a fixed stopper, which keeps the 5th line exactly the same length as your front lines. This enables you to adjust your depower and 5th line length in one go without having to adjust and re-cleat your 5th line every time the wind changes. It also prevents “bowed out” slack section in the fifth line and maintains the correct amount of tension on the LE and prevents tangles in launch.

 

The Airush Vapor 3 (III) bar is strong, functional and very well engineered;

• The front lines are locked to the 5th line above the adjuster strap to prevent trim alterations when adjusting setting with the power strap
• Large milled alloy central bar insert for minimal wear and easy bar travel and movement
• 5th line gives full re-ride safety and easy water relaunch

5th Line Leash: Apart from running a massive depower by just releasing the bar, the Vapor uses a classic 5th line leash system which can be adjusted from super safe at 5 meters long, right down to 1.5 meters for advanced freestyle kiteboarders.

 

Tangle Free Line Ends: The Vapor bar has new line connectors, which have less corners and snagging sections making setting your lines out much quicker and easier. Also, In the unfortunate situation of a massive line tangle, the connectors can be completely removed allowing the lines ends to slip through and be untangled easily.

 

Please note all kites are set up with all flying lines the same length.

Simple setup out of the bag - rig it up and go! Safety is easily identifiable on the control bar and it simply seems to fly in any wind condition! Super stable and loads of depower.

 

Had mine for a few months now and it's been in the water alot trying new tricks but despite the crashes, the Vapour feels just as new as the day I bought it! Great quality and the best of new and old school feel!
