Description

The Takoon eNova belongs to the second BOW kite generation developed by Takoon.

 

The original Nova concept which integrates both the control system and the kite, was aimed at keeping the feel of the classical 4-line kite while at the same time enhancing the wind range, reinforcing security and making the gear simpler to use.

 

Takoon now develops this concept by proposing a kite that is easy to handle, without embellishment, for all riders who want to ride in simplicity with performance equipment.

 

The eNova has a 5 struts shape, a smooth feeling in navigation and a simplified construction. While keeping a great level of performance, the eNova is a light, stable and easy to re-launch.

 

Last but not least, it is the first kite in conformity with the new standards on safety. Less aggressive but more stable, the eNova kite is ideal for Wakestyle, Surfing, and Free-riding.

The feeling is very close to traditional "C "kites where the kite gets more bar pressure while remaining light.

The Takoon Nova concept offers better performances thanks to a new kind of kite with a flat profile. These new profiles increased power delivery and immediately depower when you let go of the bar, without anything to release.

 

This unique integration of kite + bar provides a wind range equivalent to 3 traditional C kites in full safety and for equivalent performances.

 

Moreover, re-launching is done without swimming, just by pulling a rear line. Performance and safety characterize this kind of kite, but the eNova and the Nova2 differ on certain points:

 

The Takoon eNova has less aspect ratio and a thicker profile, which provide steady power band. Nova2 has more lift; the eNova being more stable with the same turning ability.

 

The Takoon eNova kite's optimum wind range is slightly different than the Nova2.

 

The Takoon eNova has a better low end and the Nova 2 has a better high end.

The Takoon eNova has more bar pressure and a better depower rate, perfect for beginners.

They both have the instant re-launch function, the eNova is more user friendly to re-launch. (less fabric in contact with water).

In short, the 2 kites are great freeriding and surfing kites.

POWER/DEPOWER SYSTEM:

TAKOON has developed even further the idea of an efficient POWER/ DEPOWER system that has made its reputation.

 

This unique integration of Kite + bar provides better POWER/DEPOWER control than any other classical kite. You control your kite and its power at all times. Sudden gusts of wind won’t panic you any more!

By pushing the bar - Depower position- the kite swivels frontward and power is decreased.

By pulling the bar, the kite gains powers and accelerates.

 

An adjustment strap on the front lines allow for accurate trimming. Unlike with regular kites, you will be able to manoeuvre the E-NOVA in all conditions because the rear lines never go slack.

With the E-NOVA you will feel in total control even in changing wind conditions. It allows you to ride in 80% of wind conditions. Therefore only 3 sizes are ever needed.

Depower Control Bar

NTS (Nova Tune System) Safety Control Bar: The level of security of the E-Nova is at its highest level thanks to its revolutionary shape. In depower position without stopper, the kite goes neutral and lands without any more power. The kite is held only by its leading edge. The rider stays connected to the kite through the harness loop. Using the stopper to untwist lines reduces the safety aspect; it is advised not to grip it too much. The control system remains equipped with a regular quick release in case of emergency and also has a safety leash.
	Adjustable Stopper developed by TAKOON is the first 100 % adjustable system for FULL de-power. It allows each rider to tune their de-power system to their favourite spot or style!
The functioning is easy : An adjustable stopper ball sliding along the de-power rope to set up your own de-power zone.   A new clam-cleat trimming system to adjust power. The NTS system is made to provide maximum safety. By screwing up slightly, the stopper will slide up after a frank ‘let go’. The nova being a 100 % de-power kite, has the power go down to zero and kite is neutral. Safety is total.
	Free-sliding mode. By not screwing the stopper, it can slide and goes up into the upper part. The kite is then neutral and rider is in the total safety position. So just let go the bar for total safety. Ideal for school, beginner or gusty/dangerous conditions.
	Safety catch mode. The safety catch position is materialised by a higher diameter on the de-power rope.Located at about 35 cm from the rider. By screwing the stopper slightly, the kite benefits from a safety catch zone and won’t move all the way up.   In this zone, the bar is naturally stopped on its way up in a ‘normal’ riding situation. By pushing the bar up , it goes passed the safety zone and can then slide all the way up again. Ideal for most conditions & waveriding. You get huge de-power to try all the new tricks.
	Set mode. By screwing the stopper tighter whatever its position (below or above the safety catch zone), the control system works like a classical C kite. The stopper is fixed and stays in place. Ideal for radical tricks, unhooked manoeuvres Warning : this set up mode is extreme and asks for a classical release on the chicken loop in case of danger.
Passive Security System The priniciple behind the safety system is simple and straight-forward. You will accquire confidence right from the start with the NOVA. Nothing to release! Simply by letting go of thebar, the kite will go neutral and lands without any more power. The kite is held only by it's leading edge. The control system slide about 1.50m away and can be easily retrieved through the depower line. The control system remains equipped with a regular quick release in case of emergency and full separation.
Relaunching without swimming: a)The neutral positions provides full safety. b)Simply by pulling in the rear line, the kite moves to the edge of the window and is ready to relaunch. c)No need to swim towards the kite to make it rotate. d)No need to re-load a safety system after a <<safety action>>.
Depower Adjustment Strap: The E-NOVA control bar comes with an adjustment strap located on the depower line. The strap allows the kite to adapt to varying wind conditions. When the line is fully extended, the kite generate it's full power, exactly as when you pull on the control bar. By shortening the strap, the kite gets less power. To regain power, pull on the trim strap. You will be able to gradually increase the power of your kite by slowly pulling on the trim strap.
Single Inflation: All the bladders on the Takoon E-NOVA inflate via one single valve placed on the leading edge. Double valves on the leading edge for quick deflation. Simple and quick to repair. Independent struts to adjust the pressure on each bladder separately. How Does it Work: Each strut is designed independently. Linked to each other means you can inflate your kite all at once with the valve on the leading edge without losing time or pressure. Each strut however also has an anti-valve, which allow you to check the pressure of each strut on its own. This valve also allows the kite to deflate completely. This system allows you to isolate any pierced strut and won't prevent you from continuing your session. If you're still in a hurry, simply only deflate the leading edge.

I am not a beginner kiteboarder but I know that this kite will be great in the hands of people just starting out or are after a kite with a nice smooth ride.

This kite still retains its quality compared with the other Takoon kites yet provides a much easier rider based on ease of use and getting up and going without any problems.

For an intermediate rider like me - it is great for going out in the waves, gusty conditions and all-round cruising - its a great kite!
