Nobile already has a reputation for innovative technology, performance and quality and the new Nobile NHP 2010 Kite is no exception. With 2 years in development -the criteria for performance was clear! Fast and direct feeling, axial turning, low bar pressure when unhooked and instant response to rider input with an increased priority on its depower range and super easy re-launch.
Using a short and simple bridle - the NHP was allowed a smaller leading edge resulting in a fast flying kite that climbs to the front of the window in all wind conditions. An essential trait for a modern freestyle kite both for smooth power delivery after landing and for completing kite loops without stalling.
The new NHP 4-line format has also allowed Nobile to increase light wind performance with no effect on the upper range handling and usability. For most riders, this increased wind range will ensure no more than 2 kites are necessary for 90% of riding conditions.
The kites of choice for KPWT winner Mike Blomvall!
All Nobile 2010 models are 100% unique, dedicated Nobile designs. Every single kite has been designed built and tested exhaustively to produce a model that is perfectly suited to the target rider/riding style. There is now scaling up or down of one test winning size - each kite has been specially developed for the conditions it will be ridden in, meaning the wind ranges overlap and the handling qualities are consistent from size to size.
Industry leading CAD/CAM software ensures that the approved prototypes are converted into production models with 100% accuracy.
Who is the Nobile
NHP 2010 Kite designed for?
Unhooked riding, new or old school freestyle and riders that
still like the classic C-shape feeling but want real levels
of de-power.
If you still yearn for the feeling of a classic C, but value
the benefits the flatter kites have to offer, you will feel
instantly at home on the NHP kite.
Why did Nobile make the Nobile NHP 2010 Kite?
Nobile started with a concept, why can’t we have a kite
that features all the good parts of a C-shape; fast, direct
and axial turning with positive, but not hard bar pressure,
great unhooked performance and fantastic lift, yet still exhibiting
the benefits of a flatter kite with massive de-power, great
ease of use and gust proof power delivery!
With this goal in mind the NHP (Nobile High Performance)
2010 was born.
How did Nobile
do it?
Even from a distance you can see this kite is different,
performance is enhanced with multiple leading edge attachments
and Nobile's Natural arc technology. The split lead line
attachments allow the centre of effort of the kite to move
forwards when
de-powering offering near bow levels of de-power.
However, by keeping the no pulley, direct rear line attachments
the bar pressure is not only light, but incredibly responsive
with constant feedback. If you still yearn for the feeling
of a classic C, but value the benefits the flatter kites have
to offer, you will feel instantly at home on the NHP.
By designing every size individually, adjusting the attachment
points and arc geometry for each size we created a constant
feel across the range not often found in other brand ranges.
Natural ARC Shaping:
The NHP features Natural Arc shaping, the most aerodynamically
efficient shape for a Leading Edge Inflatable (LEI) kite.
The fluid form has several key benefits in performance and
has been developed through extensive R & D and not marketing
influence.
As there are no corners or radical changes
of angle in the
leadng edge - the form is the same as the trailing edge of
the kite ensuring that the designed profile is maintained
across the entire canopy.
Another gain is that even tension is applied
across the canopy eliminating all fluttering and flapping
and greatly enhancing the kite’s stability.
Structurally the lack of pressure points in the leading edge
also greatly decreases the load on the bladder and seams thus
reducing the chance of material failure.
Smart 2-Pump Inflation
System:
The SMART (Single-point, Multiple-valve, Air-distribution with Removable Tubes)
pump ination system has been extensively modified for the new series. The uniquely
designed valves and removable tubes, connecting the kite’s individual bladders,
are now even more user-friendly for inflation and deflation and for removability
in the event of bladder punctures or kite damage that needs repair.
Responsive,
Direct Handling:
The already instant and positive feel of the Nobile NHP has improved with
the separation of the front and back bridle. Bar pressure has been lightened,
but without loss of predictability in power control and turning.
Quick and Intuitive
Re-launch:
Re-launching the Nobile NHP has never been easier. Minimal rider bar input
sees the kite roll over and take off in any wind strength and from which ever
position
it is lying in.
Short De-power Throw:
The Nobile control bar and NHP work together to ensure power control is progressive
and predictable within a short de-power throw. Moving from maximum power
to full de-power is achieved with a range of movement that is within easy,
comfortable reach of the average rider.
4-line Simplicity:
Separating the front and back bridle and the removal of the pulley has made
the light, direct feeling associated with the NHP even greater for the
new Nobile NHP. The single knot for the front line attachment eliminates
fuss, whilst the two knots on the rear attachments offer riders a choice
in positioning the bar close to the Fulcrum or further up the de-power
line when riding comfortably.
Nobile NHP 4-Line
Control Bar:
Nobile’s 4 line control bar is one of the safest, most technologically
advanced bars on the market. Nobile's new stainless steel (INOX) centre hole
reduces wear on the de-power line, decreases bar pressure when turning the
kite and provides uni-directional seating for the FULCRUM Quick Release, ensuring
it’s always facing forwards when riding unhooked.
For 2010 Nobile have applied a new colour
coded EVA texture to the upper side of the bar to increase
grip and rider comfort. The highest of safety and ease
of use come together as standard in the revolutionary Fulcrum
Quick Release and the through bar leash attachment line
means true re-ride performance whilst still allowing the
kite to “flag” and de-power completely when
released in case of emergency. All bars come with their
own bag to help keep them clean and the lines tangle free,
while the safety (HP) leash features a new clip complete
with manual block to prevent accidental detachment.
Fully featured Kite Bag
The new Nobile kite bag is designed to keep your kite in perfect condition
when not in use as well as provide a functional pack for each session. Dedicated
external attachment points hold the bar and pump securely whilst in transit
and both internal and external pockets provide plenty of extra storage space.
A ¾ circumference zippered opening allows for quick and easy entry to
the bag and base venting allows any water to drain out and air to circulate
whilst your kite is in storage.
Key points:
Nobile Fulcrum Quick
Release:
Nobile’s all new Fulcrum De-power loop is the industries
first 100% molded Quick Release (QR). By analyzing ALL the
requirements and applying a little “outside the box”
thinking we created a completely integrated system that moves
away from the much used cantilever principle, under which
the pressure needed to open the QR increases as the load on
the system rises, instead the Fulcrum has a constant release
pressure no matter the forces placed upon it.

The molded construction helps to vastly increase the life expectancy of the unit whilst negating the need for regular maintenance and cleaning. Whilst safety was of the utmost importance in the design of the Fulcrum, it’s functionality had to be superior too.
The Lock In Finger (LIF) has been designed with three operating
positions with the finger in a vertical position you can insert
it through the end of the spreader bar and prevent inadvertent
unhooking. By turning the LIF through one click it is held
to one side out of the way (ideal for making unhooked tricks)
but is still available should you wish to engage it again
during your session. Push the LIF from behind to remove it
completely from the Fulcrum and hook in and out with complete
ease.
The top of the mold has been designed to fit snuggly into
the INOX centre hole in the bar thus ensuring the loop is
always facing you during freestyle moves for fast hooking
in again. Ease of use has been further enhanced through the
use of a solid molded loop that can neither deform nor twist.
The Handle pass leash attachment point (*) allows experienced
freestyle riders to attach their leash to the Fulcrum in a
position that does not impede riding and eliminates the possibility
of the end of the leash catching on your spreader bar hook.
Finally the whole unit has been designed to allow a quick
and easy change of worn out de-power lines without the need
to replace the whole QR.
* The handle pass leash attachment point should only ever be utilized by expert riders once in open water and after careful consideration of the risks involved which result from dropping the bar and the possible dragging that can result. Riders should NEVER fix their leash on to this attachment point when launching the kite or near to land.
Replaceable Depower Line
The Nobile FULCRUM has been designed so that replacement of a worn de-power line can be done quickly and easily without replacing the unit itself. Unscrew and remove the Leashline/5th line attachment ring and then remove the quick release handle. The new line can be fed through the retaining piece and then the unit re-assembled.
Constant Pressure
Quick Release
Due to the unique design of the FULCRUM the
pressure needed to open the quick release remains constant
irrespective of the loads placed upon it (unlike cantilever
based systems where the pressure needed to open the release
increases as the load on the unit increases). Uniquely, the
system can be re-set quickly and easily after use even with
only one hand - simply push the loop piece back onto the retainer
and slide the release handle back down.
Handle Pass Leash
Attachment
The FULCRUM features a dedicated Handle Pass Leash attachment
point for maximum convenience during advanced freestyle riding.
* The handle pass leash attachment point should only ever be utilized by expert riders once in open water and after careful consideration of the risks involved which result from dropping the bar and the possible dragging that can result. Riders should NEVER fix their leash on to this attachment point when launching the kite or near to land.
Auto Locating Insert
The top of the FULCRUM has been designed to fit into the INOX
bar centre piece. This ensures that the loop is always facing
you during un-hooked manoeuvres allowing for fast and problem
free re-hooking.
High Visibilty, Floating
Loop
In the event that you become detached from the loop when the
quick release is activated the FULCRUM has been built in a
high visibilty red colour and designed to float making it
easier to spot in the water.
3 Position Lock
IN Finger (LIF)
The FULCRUM has a 3-position LIF for all riding styles. In
the normal position it can be inserted into the harness hook
to ensure you do not come un-hooked accidentally. In the open
position the rider can perform un-hooked tricks easily however
can re-engage the finger should they wish to mid session.
Removing the LIF completely allows for maximum convenience
when riding unhooked.

A
broad grin kite! - Jon Oakley
After a flight test with the new Nobile 666 HP - Jon Oakley
tells us his thoughts!
Conditions > 14-20 knots
Size Tested > Nobile 666 HP - 12m >
It was Tuesday afternoon and things were looking up. I had the rest of the week off and the wind gods were with me. Whilst packing the van, it dawned on me that I wouldn’t get away with five days of wall to wall kitesurfing.
Handling > Once you’ve had a short play on this baby, the advantages soon manifest themselves in the form of a broad grin.
The Nobile 666 HP does feel like a C-Kite but has the benefits of full de-power and a 5th line. Whilst waveriding, it was extremely quick for a 12m and by working her in the window would accelerate you through your top and bottom turns yet when needs be, you can dump the power whilst the kite simply tracks back with you.
I decided to spend some time trying to perfect my backloop kiteloop transitions. I got the feeling immediately that this bit of kit was made for this type of riding. I found it easy to feel where the kite was at all times and it was seriously fast through the loop, coupled with my Nobile 666 board maximising the pop boosting level with the downloop of the kite. I would have to admit that the 666 inspired me to push my riding as far as I dared.
Jumping > I gotta say that the Nobile 666 HP doesn’t disappoint.
Once you have this baby dialled, you can get some proper air!
Water Relaunching > Water re-launching the Nobile 666 HP was a doddle either off the 5th line or at the edge of the window on a wing tip. Yes I ditched her a few times whilst kitelooping!
Build Quality > The first thing that struck me was that the bag looked relatively small. Making assumptions, as you do, I thought that perhaps the build quality maybe a tad light weight.
I removed the packaging and unrolled the kite to find that I couldn’t have been more wrong. The build quality was up to the standard laid down by the majority of the ‘big players’.
The struts and leading edge are reasonably narrow with the aspect ratio being mid to high making this quite a fast kite.
The stitching along the leading edge has a reinforcing strip for added strength and the wear strips appear in all the right places.
I’m not too fussed whether my gear is one pump. More gadgets with the potential to go wrong in my opinion, however, the system rigged on the 666 seemed well constructed with very flexible pipes that locked off easily.
It was interesting to see that there were several attachments for the lines that would enable you to fine tune the kite to your personal requirements.
Control Bar System > Nobile 666 HP 5-Line Control Bar, simple and easy to use, one bar fits all, keeping overall costs down.
Overall > Who is this kite best suited? Well - intermediate to advanced riders, however, a novice could put the Nobile 666 HP to good use!
The best application, in my opinion would be wakestyle riding with kiteloops and waveriding, however it's no problem for using it for cruising.
