The all-new Ozone Chrono V5 is designed for all-round twin-tip and hydrofoil riders looking to push their limits and maximise the available conditions, whether through achieving max speeds or max hang times!
The Chrono V5 isn’t as much of a re-worked design as the V4 model was, but instead is a continued evolution of refined handling. Performance-wise it still sits between the Hyperlink and R1 models in the range.
The design focus for the V5 was centred upon refined sail shaping that has resulted in rounder loops with better acceleration, generally smoother handling and later stalling, while the 7m and 9m sizes are capable of immense boost and glide, delivering very exciting performance possibilities in stronger winds. There’s also a new valve design, allowing for faster inflation and better seal. While it’s only slightly more demanding than the Hyperlink to fly, the Chrono V5’s performance spectrum edges closer to the remarkable R1 race machine, unlocking your potential for progression!
New Leading Edge Transversal Shaping creates a cleaner surface on the most important area of the aerofoil. The new internal construction, increased cell count by 8%, bridle line count reduced by 25% and total bridle line length reduced by 14% drastically reduces drag. These advancements in design combined with lightweight materials means the kite handles extremely well especially in light winds.
Continuous power generation through turns makes the Chrono a fun kite for active flying to generate power when conditions are light. It is ultra stable and reacts to bar inputs instantly making it easy to get riding in the lightest winds. An overall lighter bar feeling allows you to ride with less fatigue.
For Foil Board riders the Chrono is a true out and out sports car, the harder you drive the more it offers. It’s got great angles up and downwind, it’s really fast if you like speed and hold on if you send it! Twin Tip riders can expect nice big floaty jumps, just load the rail and send it. Easy up wind even when it's light and if you have a flat water spot then pull that bar in and see how much power and speed your legs can handle!
The Chrono features an all-new material combination with a durable, airtight and lightweight double rip-stop for the upper and lower surfaces. The new material has a unique formulated coating to help shed water, improving flying characteristics and water re-launch.
The Leading Edge air intakes have been refined for faster progressive inflation, improved seal and optimised positioning to maintain internal air pressure. This enhances land and water re-launch capabilities.
Brake Line Settings:
Three settings allow you to fine tune kite feedback and bar pressure to your liking. It is quick and easy to change with no extra lines to add or remove.
All-Round:
The ideal balance in performance and feeling for most riders and conditions. The All-round setting is the middle knot on the PB1 line (factory setting).
Twin Tip:
Increases bar pressure and offers a sharper, more direct feeling perfect for Twin Tip riding. If you prefer a heavier and direct feel this could be the setting for you. The Twin Tip setting is the lower knot on the PB1 line.
Hydro foil:
Decreases bar pressure with a longer lifting period perfect for foiling maneouvers.The Hydro Foil setting is the upper knot on the PB1 line.
Flight Characteristics:
If you are looking to get the most out of your light wind sessions, the Chrono will peak your experience. With incredible upwind performance, low end grunt and huge float in jumps it will have you ripping!
The Chrono is designed for the intermediate to experienced riders or quite simply riders with previous foil kite experience. It is not difficult to fly but there are techniques required to fly a high aspect ratio foil kite.
Riding on snow or land is easy, with plenty of power and handling in light winds to be clocking high speeds and long airtime.
Chrono on the Water:
On the water with a Twin-tip the Chrono is a light wind monster; loads of power, easy to jump and stable. Due to the abundance of power and efficiency gaining upwind ground is ridiculously easy, in light wind its impressive how high and floaty jumps can be with the Chrono. No question at all, this is a pop and float machine, just edge hard and send it, too easy!
One other noticeable benefit is how much easier it is to tack when riding with a Foil board or Course board. This is thanks to the longer lifting period the Chrono gives you during that critical tacking moment compared to an LEI.
Chrono on the Snow:
On the snow the Chrono takes the sport to another level, more power and performance in light winds, extended jump and flight time with a much better glide angle and the improved handling makes it possible to ride in lighter winds just by generating apparent speed, which means you can ride a smaller size than normal.
Chrono on the Land:
On the land the Chrono that Ozone have made in kite stability mean that you can work on your landboard freestyle moves without worrying about the kite collapsing or falling out of the sky. For buggy riders the improvements mean freestyle or racing maneuvers are easy and more intuitive with smoother coordinated handling.
