The Ozone R1 V4 has been derived from the extremely successful R1 V2 and V3, both of which set the benchmark in kite racing competitions.
The V4 design takes it to the next level, delivering supercharged performance while maintaining the R1s well known ease of use and accessibility.
Developed closely with our top team riders, multiple World Champion Nico Parlier and 2019 World Champion Axel Mazella we have pulled out all the stops.
The new re-designed internal structure has allowed us to increase cell count up to 8% while reducing bridle line up to 12%, accounting for major parasitic drag reduction.
The Leading Edge now features Double Transversal Shaping creating a cleaner surface on the most important area of the aerofoil. The result is less turbulent airflow and longer skin adhesion, which positively effects the lift to drag ratio increasing overall performance.
The top and bottom surfaces use our time proven Ultra Light materials, with an even lighter weight material for the internal structure on the 15m to 21m sizes keeping weight down and improving light wind flying characteristics.
The Leading Edge air intakes have been refined for faster progressive inflation, improved seal and optimised positioning to maintain internal air pressure. This enhances land and water re-launch capabilities.
The all-new R1 V4 Pro-Tune Speed System is lightweight and low drag using reduced line diameters and features incredibly simple adjustment via the stream line self-locking Splice Trim System.
What do these design changes mean? More speed, more power, better upwind and downwind angles in a package that is as easy to use as its predecessors!

Flight Characteristics:
If you are looking to get the most out of your light wind sessions, the R1 will peak your experience. With incredible upwind performance, low end grunt and it will have you out on the land or water in only a few knots!
Riding on snow or land is easy, with plenty of power and handling in light winds to be clocking high speeds and long airtime.
On the water with a Twin-tip the R1 is a light wind monster; loads of speed and is easy to jump. Due to the abundance of power and efficiency gaining upwind ground is ridiculously easy, in light wind its impressive how high and floaty jumps can be with the R1.
If you race - water, land or snow you need to have a serious look at one of these. The R1 has all the technology you can imagine. The upwind performance is blazing and it can also hold a very deep downwind line.
One other noticeable benefit is how much easier it is to tack when riding with a Foil board or Course board. This is thanks to the longer lifting period the R1 gives you during that critical tacking moment compared to an LEI.
High Cell Count:
The high number of cells in the R1 reduces ballooning between the cells holding the wing shape and surfaces smoother and cleaner. This creates a reduction in turbulent airflow, giving the R1 more speed and increased depower.
Optimised Leading Edge Intakes:
Precisely positioned intake valves along the LE lead to a stability increase and a more solid kite downwind. The inflation is also now easier and safer as the kite rapidly inflates.
Leading Edge Profile Reinforcements:
The Leading Edge is reinforced with flexible lightweight plastic battens to maintain the shape of the profile during angle of attack changes and turbulent airflow.
Internal Diagonals and Straps:
Internal span-wise straps work in unison with optimized diagonal ribs, distributing load into and across the sail evenly and effectively. Together the diagonals and straps lower sail tension and increase the structural balance that helps control this high aspect ratio kite.
High Performance Kevlar Bridle Lines:
Using high performance thin Kevlar bridle line, the R1 flies faster, and so accelerates faster giving it higher performance, more range and more depower due to less drag.
High Performance Materials:
High-tenacity sail cloth with extremely low porosity values and an overall lightweight enable Ozone to further stabilise the canopy and maximise fast flight characteristics.
Velcro and Water out Channels:
A 20mm internal channel is shaped into the end of the cells along the trailing edge to allow water run-out between the cells and out of the tips during flight. The Velcro dirt out channels can be opened for cleaning the kite. Always clean your kite by emptying any water, sand or dirt as this will prolong the life of the kite and help it fly as designed.
